The Church of St. Catherine is the oldest Catholic church of St. Petersburg. It was built in 1763-1783 after the plan by the architect Jean-Baptiste Vallin de la Mothe in the style of early Classicism in the very centre of the Northern Capital, in Nevsky Prospekt.

The Church of St. Catherine has always adorned St. Petersburg, symbolising tolerance and cultural interaction. It is connected with such outstanding persons in the Russian history as A.S. Pushkin, A.S. Griboyedov, V.A. Zhukovsky, P.S. Chaadaev, Auguste de Montferrand, and many others.

Thanks to the help of many people of good will and charitable organisations, we have recently completed the restoration of the main nave of the church. We always remember our benefactors in prayer and we believe that God shall reward them for their generosity.

But the restoration of the church is still far from completion. We need a new organ (the magnificent old one had burnt during the first fire of the church in 1947) and a marble altar, and the floor in the church needs to be replaced.

The church is recognised as a federal monument of architecture, but only with your help we will be able to restore its former beauty. Only with the help of your donations the inscription on the church's pediment shall regain its meaning: Domus Mea, Domus Orationis, My house shall be called the house of prayer.
